Can I have both of my children take the same lesson?

Sibling participation in one on one lessons is generally discouraged.

Nurture independence.

It is important for children to learn how to be independent and stay focused on their own. Since children develop in their own time, it is good to give each child their own time with the teacher. This way each child has the space to grow and learn on their own. Making a special time for each child will motivate and encourage children to focus.

Consider group classes.

Exploring and enjoying music as a family is a great way to motivate your child to stay engaged in their music practice.

  • For very young children, Kindermusik or Gymboree classes offer excellent group music and movement instruction.
  • Some teaching methods, like Suzuki, are built to be taught in groups.
  • Attend musical events as a family to experience music together!
