It’s time again for the next installment of our Teacher Spotlight series. Through an informal interview, one of our fantastic Forbes Music Company teachers will share stories about their musical journey and other things along the way.
We are proud to feature our extremely talented violin and viola teacher, Emily. Her students love their lessons and it’s easy to see why. Check out the video and see for yourself!
Emily J. was introduced to the violin at the age of six and studied with many teachers throughout her life. She has held leadership positions in several orchestras, and has performed throughout Europe and China with two prestigious orchestras. Emily enjoys teaching students of all age groups. She strives to provide an encouraging learning environment where the student can express their creativity and love of music, while learning the fundamental techniques of a musical instrument. Emily finds teaching highly enjoyable and loves to share her passion for music with others.
Emily graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in violin performance from The University of Northern Colorado and studied with Richard Fuchs and Jubal Fulks. She was concertmaster of the University Orchestra, appeared as a soloist with the University Orchestra, and was also the winner of the University concerto competition. As an avid chamber musician, Emily studied chamber music throughout her undergraduate years, and attended several chamber music festivals, including the Montecito Music Festival and Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival. After some time performing and teaching, Emily is now currently pursuing her master’s degree in violin performance at Purchase Conservatory, and studies with Debora Buck, the first violinist of the renowned Lark Quartet.
