The following illness policies will be strictly enforced, for the health, well-being, and safety of all concerned.

If a child is showing signs of illness, the lesson will be and should be cancelled. Sick children will expose their teacher who can, in turn, expose other students. Since we are unaware of others’ health situations or issues, this must be avoided at all costs.

If other children or parents become ill due to such exposure, there is a possibility of causing irreparable harm. Because this is disruptive to other children and their families, your cooperation on this issue is extremely important.

Symptoms requiring lesson cancellation:

• Fever: Fever is defined as having a temperature of 100°F or higher; a child needs to be fever free, without the aid of Tylenol or any other fever reducing substance, for a minimum of 24 hours prior to the lesson time (non-COVID).
• Infections (including but not limited to, strep throat, pink eye, ear infections): lessons may resume 24 hours after a student has been administered medication and deemed non-contagious by their doctor.
• Diarrhea: runny, watery, bloody stools, or 2 or more loose stools within the last 4 hours.
• Vomiting: 2 or more times in a 24 hour period.
• Breathing trouble, sore throat, swollen glands, loss of voice, hacking or continuous coughing.
• Runny nose (other than clear), draining eyes or ears.
• Lice, rash, or any other spots that resemble diseases, including ringworm, chicken pox, etc.

Calling either the office or teacher to inform of an illness but not cancelling, will be considered a cancellation. 

Forcing a teacher or administrator to choose between health or loss of work is both irresponsible and disrespectful. How would you feel if your lesson was immediately after another parent who insisted a lesson take place when their child is sick?
