Easy Pop Song Covers will introduce you to simplified song arrangements of popular songs, so you can sit down and play tunes whether you know your way around the keys or have limited piano playing experience.

Dive into popular songs and learn the basics of song form and structure. Understand how artists build basic chords off of diatonic scale degrees to create the colors used in their songs. You can even apply to your own songwriting or creative process!

Explore songs like “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi, “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, “Let Her Go” by Passenger, just about any Taylor Swift or John Mellencamp song, or the hits from Disney! We do take requests, so be sure to submit feedback so we can plan a class around the songs you choose.

After this class, you will be able to: At the end of this class, you will PLAY SONGS! You will gain a general understanding for basic song structure and the way chords progress throughout a typical pop song, within the context of actual song examples. You will be able to play the chords from popular songs and perform them!

Office Hours

Need a quick refresher of something you did in a class? Did you forget a chord, a fingering, or short melodic phrase? 

Office Hours are short, 15-minute scheduled online “lessons” that serve the primary purpose of getting quick, extra help, better explanations, or short refreshers from a teacher outside of your normal class or lesson time. Office Hours can only be scheduled as an online session and are not available for in-home. 

Office hours are a great way to follow up with a teacher after an online class to get a one-on-one explanation of complicated concepts.
