Here are some of the benefits of taking online group classes with Forbes Music
Materials are Provided
Students are not required to prepare their own materials in advance of attending a class. Only a few things are necessary in order to have a great online experience:
- Your instrument
- An internet connection
- Your video/audio device (laptop, tablet, etc.)
Each class may use a variety of materials and learning aids as part of the curriculum: sheet music, blank staff paper, audio examples, video examples, etc. These items may be shared with students during the course as well as emailed to them after the class has ended. Teachers will have all the required materials prepared, and will share them once the class begins. As a bonus, you can purchase the pre-recorded video summary of the class content so nothing will be forgotten!
Flexibility
Online Group Classes offer a level of flexibility that is unmatched, giving students the opportunity to study when it works best for them. Group classes are presented live, in real time. The use of Zoom video conferencing software offers tremendous class facilitation capabilities.
Students can take classes independently or as part of a series, allowing for an experience that is highly individualized. Even if you take the same course twice, you will likely have a very different experience each time.
Shared Learning Experiences
In today’s world, we don’t always have the luxury of participating in groups and reaping the benefits of learning in groups. Peer to peer learning has tremendous value, especially in the creative arts. Online Group Classes give us shared learning experiences, so we can motivate and be motivated by our peers, as well as learn from them and get insight into others’ experience.
Online Group Classes offer a variety of exciting topics, and participating allows us to learn alongside others with similar interests. Inevitably, learning together with other students who share similar interests can lead to a more positive relationship with the music, the material being studied, and help get introduced to new artists and ways of doing things!
Your Questions Answered
The virtual classroom offers a unique opportunity for students to get the teacher’s attention. While the class is in session, students can reach out to the teacher to ask questions and get feedback. This provides an opportunity for clarification that can be beneficial to your learning experience, as well as that of your classmates.
There are many ways to make sure you get all your questions answered and concerns addressed, both inside and outside of the group lesson. Beyond the scope of online group classes, our teachers are also experienced music educators and private instructors. If you’re not ready for private lessons but would like to focus on a question or issue with the instructor one-on-one, you can schedule Office Hours with your teacher. This 15-minute virtual session allows you to focus on whatever topics you choose and get the in-depth help you need in a fraction of the cost and time of private lessons.
